Dr. Eirini Katodritou was born in Cyprus and studied medicine at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She obtained her specialization in Hematology in 1997 and completed her Ph.D. in 2006, focusing on research in multiple myeloma (MM) and lymphoma. She received training in the Transplant Unit and the Cell Therapy Lab at the Royal Free Hospital in London, where she conducted research on MM immunotherapy. She serves as the Director of the Department of Hematology at “Theagenio” Cancer Hospital in Thessaloniki, one of the largest Hematology-Oncology centers in Greece. She leads the clinical trial research program for multiple myeloma and lymphomas within her department, actively participating in European and international phase II and III trials. Her contributions have played a significant role in the development and approval of new drugs and treatment combinations for MM. Her primary clinical research focus is on plasma cell dyscrasias including rare conditions such as plasma cell leukemia, solitary plasmacytomas and central nervous system MM. Her work has been presented at numerous local and international conferences. She has authored or co-authored over 110 papers published in high-impact, peer-reviewed hematology Journals, with more than 4,000 citations and an H-index of 32. As a clinician, she is primarily dedicated to the care of patients with MM, other plasma cell dyscrasias, and lymphomas. She is a member of the Hellenic Society of Hematology, and she has been elected to the Board for 3 terms. She is a member of the European Society of Hematology (EHA) and of the International Myeloma Society (IMS). She is currently the President of the Greek Myeloma study Group. She is a member of the Editorial Board of the American Journal of Hematology and reviewer in several International and local Hematology conferences and Journals. Her main hobbies include music, cinema, theater, travelling and hiking.
