Prof. James Chim

Dr James Chim (詹楚生)is now the Honorary Clinical Professor of the University Department of Medicine, University of Hong Kong, and also the Honorary Clinical Professor of the Department of Medicine & Therapeutics, the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is also honorary consultant of the Hong Kong Sanatorium Hospital.

Apart from the honorary Fellowships of both the Royal College of Physicians (London, Edinburgh & Glasgow) and Royal College of Pathologists in the United Kingdom. Dr Chim was awarded the prestigious National Scientific and Technological Advancement Award國家科學技術進步獎in 2009. He is also a Founding Fellow of the Faculty of Science of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australia (FFSc), & the Academy of Translational Medicine (FAcTM) of the European Society for Translational Medicine (EUSTM).   

Clinically, Dr Chim is a clinician scientist and international myeloma expert. He is a member of the International Myeloma Working Group (IMWG), Executive Council Member of Asian Myeloma Network (AMN), invited founding member of International Academy of Clinical Hematology (IACH), and Research Advisor of the Nan Yang Academy of Sciences (NAS) of Singapore. Locally, he is the founder & current chairman of the Hong Kong Society of Myeloma (HKSOM) 「香港骨髓瘤學會」. Moreover, Dr Chim has spearheaded the establishment of the myeloma patient group, the “Hong Kong Myeloma Care & Share” 「香港骨髓瘤關愛聯盟」.

Dr Chim has published extensively with an H index of 49 in multiple myeloma & DNA methylation of tumor suppressor genes & micro-RNA. He has authored >270 publications including Blood, Leukemia & Journal of Clinical Oncology. He also sits on the Editorial Board of many journals including Blood Cancer Journal, Bone Marrow Transplantation, Scientific Reports, Blood Reviews & Translational Oncology.
